Commemorative Plate, Lester Park Methodist Church, Duluth, Minnesota Lester Park Methodist Church was organized on December 6, 1889 by the Brown Brothers and Rev. G. C. Dunn. December 7, 1890 the church was completed at a cost of $8800 and dedicated by visiting pastors and Rev. S. S. Farley, our first minister. 1895 the church was destroyed by fire and on December 8 of the same year, a new church was dedicated. 1924 the church was again destroyed by fire and by September of the same year, a new church was built at a cost of $40,000. 1927 our organ was a gift to the church by Mrs. John Hopkins. Again, in 1950 the church was seriously damaged by fire and beautifully reconditioned. Twenty-one pastors have served this church during these sixty-four years. At present, our pastor is Donald H. Walker. |
